Roblox has launched ‘Cube 3D,’ an open-source AI model designed to generate 3D objects from text prompts. This tool enables creators to produce 3D meshes by simply describing the desired object, such as “an orange racing car with black stripes.” The model is trained on a combination of licensed and publicly available datasets, as well as experience data from the Roblox ecosystem.

Key Features of Cube 3D

• Mesh Generation: Allows creators to generate 3D meshes using text prompts, facilitating rapid prototyping and creative exploration.

• Open-Source Accessibility: Developers outside the Roblox platform can customize and extend the model, fostering broader innovation in 3D content creation.

• Future Enhancements: Plans include enabling the model to accept image inputs and evolving it into a multimodal system that integrates with existing AI creation tools.

Additional AI Tools from Roblox

Roblox is also introducing AI tools for text generation, text-to-speech, and speech-to-text functionalities. These tools aim to enhance game development by enabling interactive non-player characters, narration features, and voice command capabilities.

Implications for Creators and the Gaming Industry

The introduction of Cube 3D and accompanying AI tools is expected to streamline the 3D content creation process, allowing developers to quickly prototype and implement new ideas. By reducing the time and expertise required to create complex 3D models, Roblox aims to attract a wider range of creators and expand the diversity of content on its platform.
