Montreal-based visual effects company Rodeo FX, has acquired Mikros Animation, the studio behind films such as PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Rodea FX is known for for its work on productions like Game of Thrones and Stranger Things.
Founded in 1985, Mikros Animation has contributed to 17 feature animated films and numerous episodic series for studios including Paramount Animation, Netflix, and DreamWorks Animation. Its productions have been broadcast in over 180 countries on networks such as Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

This acquisition follows Technicolor Group’s recent financial challenges, which led to the closure of several of its U.S. operations, including Mikros Animation. By integrating Mikros Animation into its network, Rodeo FX aims to preserve the creative essence of Mikros while strengthening its position in the industry. Jordan Soles, Senior Vice-President and Partner at Rodeo FX, emphasized the importance of maintaining Mikros Animation’s unique creative signature.
Mikros Animation will retain its brand identity and continue its distinct projects and production pipeline under Rodeo FX. The studio is currently working on several high-profile titles, including the upcoming third installment of the PAW Patrol film franchise, directed by Cal Brunker. Mikros Animationwill also retain all of Technicolor Canada’s equipment.
